Holiday Lights Train


Santa Cruz Holiday Lights Trains depart and return in front of Neptune’s Kingdom on the Boardwalk of Santa Cruz at 5:00pm, 6:30, and 8:00 pm for a 60-minute round-trip excursion. Departure times added without notice. Click HERE to check for day/time availability.

The boardwalk at Santa Cruz is a 90-minute drive from San Francisco, 45 minutes from the Monterey/Carmel area, and 30 minutes from the San Jose area. Take Highway 17 or scenic Highway 1 to Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk.

A surface parking lot is located directly across the street from the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk.

JED Photography will be taking professional photos with Santa on the train. Photos can be preordered HERE or purchased day of next to the ticket window or online.


What is the New Year’s Train?
There will be a live DJ, karaoke, performances by Santa Cruz Hoops and a few surprises. Come dance your way into the new year aboard the Holiday Lights Train.

Who needs tickets?
Tickets are required for guests ages two and up.

Where does the train go?
All trains depart from the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk.

How far does it go?
The train goes to the edge of the forest at highway 9 and returns to the Boardwalk.

What if there is inclement weather?
Trains runs rain or shine.
Open canopy cars will be sheltered from the rain in needed. Cars are not heated. Please remember to bring a jacket.

How do I get my tickets?
Tickets are picked up at the Boardwalk Ticketing Booth. Please look for the Roaring Camp Holiday Lights Train sign and bring your confirmation number.

When should we arrive?
Plan enough time to park and to pick up tickets.

Are there food options?
Select Boardwalk locations will be open for food and beverage.
You may also bring your own snacks and beverages aboard the train.

Ice Skating at the Boardwalk
The REAL ICE rink is 32’x90’, covered with a canopy.
Open rain or shine!
Each 1-hour session includes ice skate rental.
Located in the Boardwalk’s Main Entrance Plaza in front of the Pirate Ship ride.
Capacity is 75 people per session.
