Rainforest Weekends

Learn about California's own Coastal Redwood Forest, aboard a 100 year old steam train. Located in the Santa Cruz Mountains just a few miles from the ocean, the forest flourishes in moderate temperatures and a year-round water supply provided by the Pacific systems and dense fog. Along the journey, hear fascinating information about the coastal redwoods and their ecosystems from docent specialists. This train departs from Roaring Camp in Felton.

This weekends docent specialists will be from the following organizations:

Saturday January 19:

The Sempervirens Fund: Nonprofit Organization that provides consistent and reliable support to steward and restore the life-giving forest for people, wildlife and future generations. More information can be found at https://sempervirens.org/

Sunday January 20:

Mountain Parks Foundation: Foundation that partners with the community to invest in educational experiences that inspire protection of the redwoods state parks in our area. They also help support the maintenance of 150 miles of park trails and the stewarding of more than 23,000 acres of forest. More information can be found at http://www.mountainparks.org/
