Santa Cruz Engine No. 2 Coming Home
In 1909, this beautiful steam engine was built for the Santa Cruz Portland Cement Company of Davenport, California. She became their Engine No. 2. After exchanging hands a number of times, this elegant engine was purchased again in 2006 and used as a billboard for a chicken restaurant, earning the name “The Chiggen.” This historic Engine No. 2 has recently been restored and “fired up” for the first time in over 50 years. This July she’ll be embarking on a journey from Washington State back to the Santa Cruz Mountains, stopping for a visit at Roaring Camp Railroads!
July 11th through the 13th, this beauty will be chugging along our tracks, departing from Felton and stopping at Depot Park on her way to the beach in Santa Cruz. From there, she’ll run up the track on the Davenport Branch Line for a 40-minute round trip ride.
Tickets are sure to sell out!
